Battery drain after watch 6 updated to watchOS9.2

Hi ,

I have been experiencing a critical battery drain on my watch 6 after update to 9.2

Usual day is I start by 95% at 8am and by 5 pm I have 72%- 75% since I turn off all annoying notifications except whatsapp.

But now its hardly 10 am and I am at 68%. This is after the update yesterday to watchos 9.2.

Kindly release an update to fix this!

My watch on 9.2 had 59% when I went to bed last night.

With a 2 year old watch it may well be the battery at fault

Two tests

  1. Look at batter health in Settings, Battery, Battery health. Is it at least 80%?
  2. Tonight charge it up to 100% before bed time. Power it right off and take it off charge. In the morning turn it on and see if the charge is at least 95%. If it is less then the battery may have an internal discharge and needs replacing

With 1. or 2. true you need a new battery

If the watch battery passes both tests then unpair it, remove any security apps from the iPhone, check all apps are up to date, then re-pair the Watch.

This would be helpful if the information under Settings - Battery - Battery Health was for our Watches but it’s not. That’s for the health of your iPhone. So basically you’re having us check the health of our iPhone battery NOT the Apple watch battery. Making your first “test” here null & void of useful info in regard to Watch draining.

The only way to check your Apple watch battery is ON the watch. Don’t ask me why but Apple hasn’t added it to the Watch app on our phones.

The second test is worth trying but I was fully charged when I updated yesterday, am using less than 10% of the storage on my 32GB watch 5, have background app refresh only on for 6 apps, use wifi not data, and went from 87% last night to 60% this morning with no apps running. Not even an alarm.

Contact Apple by all means after you did the overnight test (which Apple do not have the equipment to check)

If the watch battery passes that test and you have 100% health then unpair it, remove any security apps from the iPhone, check all apps are up to date, then re-pair the Watch without restoring the backup.

Waiting for the famous "update fix" has been bandied around since Apple made their first battery driven device. It doesn't exist.

Having this issue too, full charge before bed so I could wear it to sleep at night. Before updating, I could get 75% of battery life the next morning and still go about my day and get 20% of battery by the end of the day with decent usage.

Now, after the update, I only get 15% of battery life the next morning! What is going on?? How can I track the rest of the day with the low battery life. It's coming to noon now, and it's at 2%.
