Unable to install Command Line Tools for Xcode-14.2 using softwareupdate on MacOS 12.6.1

Dear community members,

From the documentation, Command line tools for xcode 14.2 should work on MacOS 12.5+. However as of today 14 Dec 2022 i am unable to install command line tools for xcode 14.2 using softwareupdate. Older version works just fine including 14.0. Any idea what could be wrong here? I don't get much help from the errors in logs.

Thank you Hoffman for your feedback. I was able to install using dmg package.

It looks like i overlooked some important logs, in our setup we use cache and command line tools for xcode 14.2 was corrupted.

Purging the cache helped me to resolve the issue.

Boot into Safe Mode, and try again there.

It's also possible that Apple's servers are "merely" getting hammered as they released new everything, and trying again later might work.

If you really need 14.2 tools sooner, download the DMG manually from Apple, and install it locally.
