I was wondering why my iPhone 13 is saying now discoverable as iPhone (8) it has gone all the way up the numbers and can figure why it changes .

Cool thank you. Done that.

is there a reason it has changed by itself it was iPhone (3) then iPhone (4) and it worked it’s way up to 8 without me changing it.

Rename the iphone something different like 'mariers iphone'.

If you just call it "iphone" it will attach its own (#) after it as you restore backups etc

Rename your iPhone in Settings>General>Info>Name ... and input a less generic description (i.e. My iPhone 13)
