JCA379 adaptor stopped working after iOS 16 updates

The j5create adaptor JCA379 (USB-C to HDMI  3.0 with power delivery) worked great on my iPad Air until the iPad iOS 16 update. Now the adaptor appears blue on the iPad screen for a few seconds and then off. The projector and/or tv connected to flashes for a moment to show a signal is being sent momentarily. I even got a replacement on the adaptor and it didn’t resolve the issue. Adaptor worked great until the iOS 16 update.

Hello PastorJoey87,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities, and we'll be happy to help in any way we can. We understand you're having issues with your iPad adapter. Have you tried restarting your iPad? This simple step resolves a multitude of issues: Restart your iPad

"How to restart an iPad without a Home button

  1. Press and hold either volume button and the top button until the power off slider appears.

  2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
  3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the top button until you see the Apple logo.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, does your iPad need updating to iOS 16.2? Do you have a recent backup for the data in your iPad in iCloud or your computer? If not, we recommend that you create one as described here: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Then update your iPadOS as outlined here: Update your iPhone or iPad

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

There appears to be more and more Apple Support community postings on this issue.

Apparently, there is a problem with all Apple HDMI video adapters on iPadOS 16.1.

Hopefully, Apple will, soon, fix this issue, in a future iPadOS 16 update.

Try updating your iPad to the recently released iPadOS 16.2.

iOS/iPadOS 16.2 was just released and is available to all Apple devices all over the world.

See if Apple has solved this issue in iPadOS 16.2.

In the meantime, you can post unacknowledged iPad/iPadOS feedback, on this issue, with Apple by tapping the link below.

Feedback - iPad - Apple

After ANY iOS/iPadOS upgrade/update, you should ALWAYS perform a simple hard reset/forced restart of your Apple mobile device.

For iPad models with a Home button, do a simple hard reset/forced restart of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake/power button simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons.

OR

For much newer design iPad models, without a Home button, try the new simple hard reset/forced restart procedure for the new 2018-2022 iPad Pros, 2020/21 iPad Air 4 and 5, the 2021 iPad Mini 6 and the new 2022, 10th gen base models,

1. Press and release the volume button closest to the top Power button

2. Then immediately press and release the volume button farthest from the top Power button.

3. Then, press and hold the top single sleep/wake/power button You will see the Slide to Power off button, but keep on holding down the power button until you see the Apple logo, then let it go.

Once you have performed all the steps, wait for a few seconds and your 2018-2022 iPad will boot up completely to the iPad’s Lock screen.

Best of Luck to You!
