Unreadable text on Microsoft Word

I have received a number of files that won't open. Each file name reads like this - "Word found unreadable content in "~$estioning Template.docx"."

I have tried everything suggested with no success.

What does the "~$" mean at the beginning of the file name? And does anyone have any suggestions on how to open these files, as I need them for work.

Many thanks

Wendy

My guess would be that the sender is sending you links to documents on their computer rather than the actual documents. They need to send you the documents.
