I bought an SSD drive and put it in a pocket with a USB-C 3.1 output (2nd gen) I also bought a Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) - Thunderbold 2 (female socket) adapter and a Thunderbold2 cable that I connected to the computer. The disk does not work in this mac and on the second one either. (on any thunderbold connector) I will add that the same USB-C drive, I connected it to my macbook and it works fine. Connection issue I have a 21 inch I mac late 2015 I want to connect a Samsung T7 SSD To boost performance. Can I use the Thunderbolt 2 port on the back of the Mac and where can I get the cable From

You can not use the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter in reverse, because it does not supply power to the external SSD drive in that direction. About the Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter - Apple Support

You can use a USB-A to USB-C adapter in one of your iMac's USB-A ports.

Just keep in mind that the External SSD will only run at the slower USB speed.
