Any way to create hover text in a chart?

Is it possible to set text to show up on a bar chart, when I hover my mouse over it?

Failing that, how can I add value labels to my bars - that appear on the bars vertically, rather than horizontally?

You can see good working examples of what's possible with charts by starting a new document based on the Charting Basics template at File > New in your menu.

Also see this part of the Numbers User Guide.

Hover text is not supported.

You could add text boxes, rotate them to create vertical labels, and drag them into position.
