iOS 16 for iPhone SE 2016

A web search indicates that Apple supports iOS 16 for my iPhone SE 2016. However, Settings>General>Software Update is set on automatic update, which indicates "iOS 15.7.1 iOS is up to date." Is is possible to update to iOS 16 and, if so, how might I proceed. Thank you.

That model is not compatible with iOS 16.

The 2nd and 3rd generation iPhone SE are compatible, but not the 1st generation.
