AirPods Disconnecting Only on Calls

I have had Airpods Pro since they came out. One of the Airpod got busted and apple replaced it. Then later their sensors failed and apple replaced them again. Fast forward to Feb/2022. I got iPhone 12 Pro Max. Now during phone calls no matter which app just PHONE CALLS, their AirPods will disconnect and connect by themselves. It keeps happening within a matter of seconds and then the call would disconnect. This issue is unpredictable. Can happen anytime. Sometime it won't happen at all. Sometimes it just starts doing it.

Now I went to apple and told them about the issue and they said your AirPods must be doing this but they were not able to find any issue with my AirPods. They won't replace them because they are out of warranty now. This is so frustrating for me so I went ahead and bought new AirPods the 3rd Gen. Guess what! the problem is still there. Now I went back to apple and told them that there must be an issue with the iPhone. Now they want me to replicate the problem in the store, which I don't have control over because it is unpredictable. After 3 visits to the apple stores and after spending several hours I was able to prove the issue. Apple went ahead and sent me a replacement for my iPhone 12 pro-Max.

Guess what !!!! The problem is still there. New Airpods, Old AirPods, New iPhone. I have done everything possible. I have reset my phone as new. I did not back it up. I have no car Bluetooth connections. I don't have apple car play in my car. My AirPods are not connected to any other device. I reset the AirPods in all ways possible.

You name it I HAVE DONE IT.

THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. !!!! It is beyond frustrating.

I NEED HELP !!

iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 16

Hi Jwd_jii,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with using your AirPods Pro when making a phone call. We'd like to help.

Since all components have been replaced, and you've set up your replacement iPhone as new, we'd recommend that you continue to work with Apple Support on this issue. They will have the ability to look into this deeper to see why this continues to happen with a new device.

If you do not have contact information for anyone you've spoken to in the past, this link will help you start a new conversation with them. If you have any previous Case IDs, it can be helpful to provide them as well so they have a bit of your history to look at.

To continue that conversation, click this link and provide some information through the available options: Contact - Official Apple Support

Hope that helps.

Take care!
