Is there an iWatch that functions like an iPhone in addition to all of the other functions?

I cannot discern whether or not there is a newer version of the Apple Watch that functions as a cell phone without the actual cell phone being near by? In other words, one can answer calls and make calls using just the Apple Watch even if the iPhone is miles away. Answers/advice/experience welcome! I have an Apple Watch 6 and was thinking of getting a later version if the capability to make and receive phone calls via a newer version of the Apple Watch (without the presence of my iPhone) is possible on a later version.

Thanks !

The cellular version of the  Watch functions independently of the iPhone that it is paired with when the phone is not around.

I can make & receive calls on my cellular watch even when I have left the phone at home.
