HomePod distortion chirping sounds

Hello Community. My beloved original HomePod has started making chirping sounds when playing music. It seems to be caused by certain bass frequencies.

I’ve retired it to work with my AppleTV 4K for movies and such, where it won’t be challenged so much. Still, I was wondering if a speaker in the device has blown or if anyone else has had this problem?

Some of them have exhibited this behaviour with odd noises. The only solution I found that helped mine is to unplug it for over 24 hrs, plug back in and do a hard reset by pressing the top method

Reset HomePod - Apple Support then set it up again

Thank you for your reply. I will give it a try. It sounds logical. I will mourn the day it stops working. There’s really nothing native Siri that competes with the original HomePod’s high fidelity. AirPlay 2 is an improvement but having access to my entire Apple Music collection, playlists and all using Siri is an awesome thing.

I know Apple feels they’d created a device at the wrong price point, and I admire the HomePod Mini, but I wish they’d continue making a higher end model.
