Can’t add a card to Apple Wallet - iPhone 14 Pro

I’ve just changed my phone to the iPhone 14 Pro. When trying to add my debit card to the wallet it says “unable to add card”

I previously used the same card with my previous phone and watch for Apple Pay with no issues. Apple said to contact my bank, contacted my bank, they said to contact Apple. The phone is up to date with the latest software and has a strong wifi connection.

Ive tried adding the card several times, signed out of my Apple ID and then back in again, restarted iPhone to no avail. Has anyone else had the same problem?

Anyone find a solution? I just changed over to iPhone 14 this month and it is not letting me add any cards. I’ve tried all my cards from different banks and neither will add. I tried all the troubleshoot steps provided as well.

I got a new card with a new number two months ago and have not been able to add it although my old card was in there with no problem. I was even able to add it to my iPad but I don’t use my iPad as much. I have called Apple and my bank and no one can see a problem. I am beyond frustrated but I’m glad it’s not just me. It seems many people are dealing with it.

1. Check that you're able to use Apple Pay:
•Contact your card issuer to see if they support Apple Pay.
•Update to the latest version of iOS or iPadOSwatchOS, or macOS.
•Make sure that you are in a supported country or region.
•Check that your device is compatible with Apple Pay.
2. Check for services outages or connection issues.
3. If you see the message "Could Not Add Card" or "Invalid Card," contact your bank or card issuer.

Apple does not approve or decline cards for use with Apple Pay. If your card was declined, contact your bank or card issuer.

If you need help adding a card, learn how to set up Apple Pay.


If the issue seems to apply to multiple eligible cards, there are a few other things to check on:


  1. Ensure the date and time are set accurately on the device at Settings > General > Date & Time.
  2. Ensure the device is connected to a reliable network, and try switching to another one if possible to rule out conflicts.
  3. If there happens to be any VPNs installed, try temporarily uninstalling them to help rule out any conflicts.

Thank you. I have tried all of this advice before posting but it hasn’t resolved the issue.

I have spoken to my bank again and they have now advised that it is a known issue with sync problems to Wallet that is being looked into and will hopefully be resolved soon. I hope so as I was close to taking the new phone back to Apple thinking it was the phone.
