CarPlay not working - iOS 16

I have an iPhone 13 and since I updated to iOS 16, I can't use CarPlay in my car, the phone recognizes the car (disables wifi - tries to use bluetooth audio) but the car app is stuck on loading screen.

I've tried every single kind of troubleshooting, including some I saw in this community, but had no success.

Here is some things I did:

  • I have the latest iOS 16.1.1;
  • I actually use VPN, but the problem appeared to me before I became using, and even with VPN on or off carplay won't work;
  • Just to check if the problem wasn't with the car, I've tried the same car with an older iPhone 7 with iOS 15.5 and it works normally, Android Auto works fine too;
  • I have Siri enabled in lock screen and no restrictions placed in screen time;
  • Tried to reset network settings, no success;

There's any solution to this problem? Maybe a factory reset would do it?

Hi laconh,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! If CarPlay isn't working as expected, we would recommend the steps from the following article that may help:

If you need help with CarPlay

1. Check your connection to your CarPlay stereo:
If you have a wired connection, try connecting again with a different USB cable to a different USB port if you have one.
If you have a wireless connection, make sure that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled under Settings > Wi-Fi and Settings > Bluetooth.
2. If CarPlay doesn't activate automatically, look for the CarPlay logo on your car's display.
3. Restart your iPhone and your car.
4. Make sure that Siri is on.
5. If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, tap Allowed Apps and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.
6. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.
7. Make sure that your CarPlay stereo is using the latest firmware from the car manufacturer. Check your car's manual for more information.

Hope this helps!

Have a great day.
