Apple ID showing in Text not phone number

Why is my Apple email showing on my text instead of my phone number (iPhone OS version 16.1.1)?

Double check the settings for the Messages app on your iPhone:

Open Settings âž” Messages âž” Send & Receive: Ensure that Your Phone number is checked. No email accounts should be checked. On the same screen, select start new messages from and choose the number of that iPhone.

You will have to start fresh with every contact that you have texted with your email instead of your phone number. This means that you will have to delete those message threads so that when you send a new message, then it will use the phone number this time.
