TouchID is available for iPad5-10, iPad mini3-6, iPad Air2-5 and early models of iPad Pro. For iPad10, mini6 and Air4/5, the TouchID sensor is built-in to the Top (Sleep/Wake) button.

Older models of iPad (specifically iPad1-4, iPad mini1/2 and iPad Air1) pre-date TouchID and do not have a TouchID sensor. Third generation and later models of iPad Pro 12.9” and all 11” models feature FaceID - and similarly do not have a TouchID sensor.

All recent models of iPad support either TouchID or FaceID - but not both. The two different biometric authentication technologies entirely different sensor hardware.
