pkcs11 problems on macOs Ventura

Hi Manutico,

There is probably nothing wrong with your certificate, it's just the Adobe Acrobat Reader running on MacOS Ventura.

After extensively researching for a solution, the following steps helped me have a working certificate (I'm running as well MacOS Ventura and Adobe Acrobat Reader and have an Athena USB stick).

Assuming that you have everything updated, follow the next steps and let me know if this has solved your problem.

1. Open Finder>Applications

2. Right-click on the Adobe Acrobat Reader.app and select Get Info from the menu.

3. If Open using Rosetta is not selected, select it.

4. Quit Adobe Acrobat Reader.

5. Reopen Adobe Acrobat Reader

6. Go to Preferences>Signatures>Identities & Trusted Certificates and click More

7. Click on Attach module and provide the path /Library/Application Support/Athena/libASEP11.dylib to the library

8. Check the certificate details and select the one you want to use for signing (if others are shown).

Please be aware that once you decide to open Adobe Acrobat Reader through Rosetta, you may experience lags in reading PDF documents. You may then decide (as I did) to use Preview for reading and Adobe Acrobat Reader only for signing purposes.

or check your smart card - in terminal type pcsctest

For me, this was fixed by opening Adobe Acrobat Reader with Rosetta on. This applies only to Apple silicon Macs.
