I have an old iPad from from 2012 that I no longer use as it is obsolete. I would like to dispose of it but cannot remember my passcode so cannot erase its contents. I have not tried connecting it to my MacBook as I'm guessing it will not work due to the ancient software on the old iPad.
Is there anything I can do?

Thanks, That is some comfort and I have changed my password and the old iPad is removed from my devices. I'm still a bit worried about recycling my old iPad while it still has my information stored on it though, even if it has locked itself.
That is sounding like my best option, once I have been through all my passwords and changed them all - either that or keep it as a living reminder to pay more attention to these things in future!
