can anyone else not get skin tone for male spy emoji on ios 16.1 onward?

Is anyone else experiencing issues trying to type different skin colours of the male and female spy, weight lifter and golfer on iOS 16.1 and 16.1.1?

when I try to the keyboard presents the skin tones for the gender neutral option only. And persisting to use other replacements can work but can lead to graphical duplications in the keyboard afterward.

I miss my Poirot emoji.

I heard from Apple it's an issue. It's present in MacOS also; latest update. Same issue in that if you've used the emoji before then it's fine but the male spy brings up gender neutral emoji picker.

I got the Apple support representative to reproduce it on her own iPhone and MacBook so we know it's not just me.

Look at what you wrote back to me. They’re all the gender neutral emoji where they’re not yellow default.

when you use the male or female one the gender neutral version takes over.

for instance the male spy emoji 🕵️‍♂️ has a moustache and with the lightest skin tone his moustache is black.

the male weight lifter has a red leotard. The neutral one has grey. And the female one has a pink purple.

look back at your emojis.

Just had it confirmed by Apple as a bug in both iOS and MacOS Ventura.

affects the emoji where the gender composites seem to start with the gender neutral emoji, whereas most start with a gendered emoji.

you’re unable to use the standard keyboard in iOS and the standard emoji picker in macOS to select a skin tone for the female and male; detective, weight lifter, and golfer.
