External Monitor loses signal on Macbook Air

About a week ago, my external monitor started to loose its signal and turn black occasionally. This seems to be somewhat related to CPU load, bit I'm not entirely sure about that. I'm connecting the external monitor through a dock connected to the USB-C ports. This same setup worked without any issues for several months now. How can I fix this?
