Shuffle stopped working in CarPlay,

Shuffle stopped working in CarPlay. It keeps replaying the first song it selects from the Playlist.

I'm up to date on all software. 16.1 on the iPhone. And, I've rebooted since the update. This problem is recent, maybe since 16. Playlists used to Shuffle fine for years.


Does it seem like the issue is isolated to the first song? Not sure what you mean. I clicked shuffle a random song on the Playlist starts and then keeps replaying. Never shuffles to another song.


Are the songs after the first not shuffled? correct.


Are all of your playlists affected? Yes.


How do you initiate playing your playlists? Do you ask Siri or do you pick the playlist? I manually pick a Playlist on the car screen and click shuffle.


If you pick the playlist, do you use a widget or do you use the Music app? The Music app on the car screen.

In the meantime, let’s check for a software update and make sure that you are running the latest version of iOS.

While it isn't inherently assured that an update will resolve the issue, updating to the latest software version for your device can help isolate potential software issues.

For difficulties with shuffling your playlists while using CarPlay, you'll want to take the steps below:


1. Check your connection to your CarPlay stereo:
• If you have a wired connection, try connecting again with a different USB cable to a different USB port if you have one.
• If you have a wireless connection, make sure that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled under Settings > Wi-Fi and Settings > Bluetooth.
2. Make sure that Siri is on.
3. Make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, tap Allowed Apps and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.
4. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.
5. Make sure that your CarPlay stereo is using the latest firmware from the car manufacturer. Check your car's manual for more information.
