Apple TV WiFi Performance

Hi, I have the latest 2022 ATV, delivered today, but I'm struggling with the WiFi performance.

  • Router is in same room as the ATV
  • ATV has clear sight of the router
  • Router has the 2.4 and 5Ghz channels split with ATV connected to 5Ghz
  • Checking the router with an app on my iPhone, it is transmitting at >300Mbps over wifi

I'm trying to play local files >40Mpbs, so not touching the external internet at all but the ATV keeps buffering. The local files are on a NAS that is wired into the router.

Any ideas on what I've missed?

Thanks

Try finding local sources of interference (metal shielding, tangled power cords, neighboring networks on overlapping Wi-Fi channels, etc.).

Else try the Apple TV box in a different location and different network, see if you get the same low speed. If it gets high speeds elsewhere, then the device itself is fine for Wi-Fi capabilities.

Else contact Apple Support for device testing possibilities, if they’re willing to do that?
