External SSD auto-ejecting / unmounting

I bought one of those MacBook Air M1's about 18 months ago, and I've had nothing but problems with it. It has been the worst Mac I have owned in 30 years, but Apple said there is nothing wrong with it, hahahahaaa!

Anyway, when buying the laptop I also purchased a Sandisk 500 GB SSD that I regularly used to plug in and use for Time Machine and to also store extra files, but these past few months the drive has decided to eject itself for no reason, within a couple of minutes.

Even though I have tried to use Disk Utility (-69565 & -69673 operation failed) and I also tried the startup options (doesn't even show up any all), I am unable to do anything.

I'm now on Ventura, but the issue started before the recent upgrade.

Is there any reason why it randomly unmounts? Is there a possible solution or should I just bin it and buy another brand? Saying that, I would like to get some of my extra files back.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions : )

Using the 1 Drive for Multi Purposes is generally not a good idea.

I was able to very quickly select all, send to trash and delete - the Time Machine partition is now empty.

Every few days, the drive lingers long enough in the Finder sidebar for me to access the extra files partition where I am able to quickly copy across a folder onto the desktop and then delete it on the SSD - all done just in time before it ejects itself again. It is a very slow process.

The drive hasn't failed if I can access it, albeit briefly.
