Safari search doesn't work properly

I have two issues on my base M2 macbook air. I currently run Monterey and my Safari is acting out. No matter how many tabs are open, often when I open a new tab and type in my request into the search bar and hit enter, the page loads up but quickly resets to an empty start page. I have added a video. And the second issue is with google docs and sheets tabs just freezing. Sometimes a tab can just become white and not closeable. I can't close it, reload, or edit. The only thing that helps is force quitting Safari and reopening it. I don't have extensions or any software on my mac, but these two issues are making me regret the purchase.
