Love macOS Ventura but after updating all of my printer presets for the Toshiba copier at my work got scrambled. When trying to set them again the preset name would save but the settings would remain defaulted and any time you try and fix the preset settings they don't save so you can't click a preset and have the settings you want pulled up. This makes it very difficult to print and we're wasting paper. Any fix? I have a 2018 Mac mini with an intel core i7.
After nearly a year old fighting this issue in Ventura (and more recently Sonoma on my M2 Mac Mini), I was about to give up and go back to High Sierra, I finally found a solution that works through a tip on a similar thread on Adobe. I open any of my Photoshop files in Mac's "Preview" application, select my printer (in my case an Epson P900), choose my settings (size, sheet feed, Epson Watercolor Paper, etc.), and then save and name them as a preset. Now, when I go to print in Photoshop, these presets automatically appear and retain all my settings! This seems like an absurd workaround for a problem that Apple should have fixed a year ago, but it's fairly simple and, for me anyway, works like a charm. I hope this helps. I also hope Apple fixes this annoying problem soon!
Regardless of the cost of the Apple Mac, the OS is always going to be the same across the models and have the same attributes, limitations and advantages. The higher cost machines have great expandability and greater versatility, but the OS is the exact same.
This is still a problem in Venura 13.4.1. Honestly it's a mess, and I can't believe Apple has had this bug since November 2022. Printing on large format Epson P9000s and P9570s is completely broken in Ventura. It's 100% unusable. I have three new M1 machines, and all have the same issue.
I am having this exact same problem with a new Epson printer (8500) & MacBook Air, Sonoma 14.1.1. I went through your suggestion & wow the printer dialog has changed quite substantially. I set up the particular job - & the settings didn't get saved. Weirdly I was able to retrieve the settings OK before Xmas, *I think*, (this was for a Xmas Card home printing project). But no more ...... Very frustrating!
And c**p, now I have 'lost' the options of doing the fine-tuning of color etc etc refinements!!! I am working with an InDesign doc, went out of the app & back in, & then the options I see when I went back in no longer show the 'printer options' (forget if that is the exact terminology). Now I've also lost all the EXTRA options that appeared when I did the first Reset of printer from System Settings. I did another reset & it didn't help.

Of course it is outrageous that Apple lets users down so appallingly by releasing such buggy software, and then fail to fix it. The impression is an attitude of complete distain for their customers, bordering on contempt. The company is evidently living comfortably on past reputation. At some point this forbearance will come to an end and anybody who is conscientious themselves will cease to use Apple products. It's a shame, but many other great companies have suffered a similar fate, and Apple will be no different if it makes the same mistakes, which it seems intent on doing.
Same problem and I work remotely now my employees have to be in the office when I'm printing to make sure is right.

I agree the new print dialogue is a train wreck as well. There was literally nothing wrong with the old one. This printer issue sucks as it's keeping me from upgrading my hardware.
Yeah, I wish I had known about this before updating! I just used the Feedback Assistant application to report this directly to Apple. I suggest others do the same!
For what it's worth. Installing the macOS 13.1 update seems to have resolved this issue for me. YMMV
Not here. Did you install it on an Intel or M1 Mac?
I never saw the issue on my M1's. Only on an Intel iMac. I updated it to 13.1 this morning and was able to save presets as expected.
