Stage Manager requires an iPad with an M1 CPU. It is not supported on older iPads.

iPad models that support Stage Manager

You can use Stage Manager on these iPad models:

• iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later)
• iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later)
• iPad Air (5th generation)

The new Stage Manager feature is available for these models of iPad:

• iPad Air (5th generation)
• iPad Pro 11-inch (all generations)
• iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later)

Feature availability is usually limited by system hardware - CPU and available RAM being critical to some advanced functionality. Models supporting Stage Manager have an M2, M1 or A12X CPU - with at least 8GB RAM.

Slight correction to the above: while M1 and M2 are supported, Stage Manager support is not tied to M1 or later.

Stage Manager support for some iPad models pre-M1 was added.

iPad Pro 12.9” 3rd uses A12X and predates M1, for instance, and is supported by Stage Manager.
