iPhone Storage keeps filling with System Data

Since getting my iPhone 14 Pro with 256 GB the iPhone storage fills up with system data. When I restart the device it drop to what it should be and then fills up again.

Have reset (while not getting rid of eSIM settings) and it shows lots of space left and then it fills up again.

I have also noticed that although I work from home and am home MOST of the time, it's still using mobile data and is using up all my mobile data. This is now month 2 that data has been used up. When I check mobile data and current use, it shows 4.3GB of data used by system data and 1GB by everything else. Only noticed mobile data usage this week.

Hello saskiya,

Ensuring your iPhone storage is reflected accurately and your iPhone is using Wi-Fi as expected is important.

If you set up or restored your iPhone within the past 72 hours, keep in charge and connected to the internet until the 72 hours is complete. If the issue continues, please contact Apple Support: Get Support

If it’s been longer than 72 hours, with both issues you're facing, you'll want to start by updating iOS if you haven't already. While simple, updating is a wonderful step that can help resolve many issues. If you need to reference the steps for updating, they are listed below and can be found in the following article.

  1. "Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
  2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
  3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
  5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do."

Update your iPhone or iPad

Along with updating iOS, you'll also find that that Wi-Fi Assist may be enabled. When this setting is enabled, it can allow apps to connect and use cellular data over the Wi-Fi network, depending on the Wi-Fi signal strength. You can learn more about viewing and changing cellular data settings on iPhone via the following link.
