Which iOS version is currently installed on your iPhone 6? If you have iOS version 12.5.6 installed on your iPhone 6 then you cannot update any further. You will need a newer model iPhone to install and use higher versions of the iOS.

Updating an iPhone 6 to iOS16:

This is not an option. Your iPhone model(6 Plus) is incompatible with the latest version: iOS 16 - Apple. It can only go to iOS12.
