Walking steadiness no data

My iPhone has stopped gathering data on walking steadiness. I have deleted and reinstalled the health app several times with no effect

Health app is so inaccurate when using just an iphone Is there a known issue with an iPhone 12 being able to track steps/kcal/kms when all you are using is the iPhone in your pocket (no link to a watch or external app) I’ve jogged the exact same distance, on the same course, with the phone in the same pocket of my joggers and for the exact same number of minutes …. And yet the results are so wildly variable. Example: yesterday 336 kcal for 65 mins, the exact same duration and same course the day before was 611, the day before 703, the day before that 420. I’ve changed no settings (weight, etc). what is going on? It’s so annoying and so unlike anything else Apple related in my life!

The pedometer on my iPhone 14 with IOS 18.2.1 does not update steps in a timely manner I was walking today and the steps in Health were 6311. I walked about 20 minutes more and the steps were still 6311. I exited the app, came back in, same result. closed the app, same result. I walked about 20 minutes more and then the steps were 105xx. I was probably in an area with intermittent or no cell phone service ; walked another 20 minutes in an area with cell phone coverage, steps were still 105xx. Stopped for about a minute, looked multiple times at the app, no update of steps. Walked to the car and steps were 13k. It is rather annoying to have these large gaps between updates. Is there any way to force Health to update the steps more frequently?
