retrieving deleted text

so when i go to apple site it says to go to messages, tap on edit than select retrieve deleted messages. when I tap on edit I do not have that option..help please

iPhone 11, iOS 15

The signature in your post indicates that you have iOS 15. The option to retrieve deleted messages via "Edit" is a new feature with iOS 16. See: Delete and recover messages on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Also note that if you don't have any deleted messages within the last 30 to 40 days, the option does not appear.

If you didn't delete any messages after installing iOS 16 or later, you deleted that/those messages before using iOS 16, and those messages can be retrieved from a backup created before you deleted them.

No backup = No recovery, sorry.
