Problems with the trackpad persists after coming from Monterey

Since the update of my MacBook Air M1 2020 to Monterey I found that my trackpad behaved different. I never had a problem with this with BigSur, but out of any reason the trackpad clicks without being clicked or stops working for a short period of time.

I hoped that this will be fixed when I upgrade to Ventura, but the problem is still there. It's really hard if you need to work with it. I created a short video to explain what this is all about and will upload it later.

What I got so far from apple support:

  • check settings of trackpad => done
  • check settings for accessibility => done
  • delete trackpad preferences by terminal => done
  • try to use a different user => didn't checked this yet
  • try to use safe mode => no change in the behaviour
  • switch back to BigSur => this will take too much time to backup all the data, downgrade and restore the data

Have you shut down and rebooted more than once since your upgrade...(?)

To trouble shoot further you can:

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

—SafeBoot How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

—Try a external trackpad / magic trackpad and compare your results.. this would be telling.

if you have a hardware issue then take it in for repair
