Airpods unresponsive

So i bought a pair of brand new airpods off of the apple website (so i know they are 100% authentic.) and they wont flash white when holding the set up button. They are fresh out the box, and have full battery. They continue to flash green, but as i said, when i hold the button on the back, a solid white light shows and it never starts flashing white. Any advice on this is much appreciated.
