Safari IOS 16.0.3 - pressing back button scrolls to top of previous page when in single tab view

As above really.

when using the back button in iOS in single tab view (search bar at top of page) it forgets the position on the last page and scrolls to the top.

when using tab bar it doesn’t do this.

I’ve tried a soft reset, clearing search history and closing all tabs, the issue persists.

does anyone know how to fix this bug as it makes google searching a nightmare.

As an example,

navigate to google in safari
enter search term
scroll down 30 results and select a result
visit website
then click back button to go back to previous google search results

when I click the back button safari then then me all the way back to the top of the previous Google search results page, it forgets where you where in the search results meaning you have to scroll down 30 results to get back to where you were previously.
