Activation lock enabled…

I’ve bought a second hand Apple Watch Series 6. The previous owner forgot to unlink the watch to their iPhone. This has now been done but the watch still appears to have activation lock enabled. How do I resolve this? TIA

The seller had already undertaken these steps.

I reset the watch and it eventually paired with my iPhone 😉
