Why is my iphone 12 not alerting me to messages from only 1 contact?

Do you have the person blocked? Check their entry in Contacts. Do you have alerts muted for that conversation? In the main screen of Messages, find the conversation with that person. Put your finger on it and pull to the left. Tap the icon with a bell?
