Watch does not hold charge and is only 3-4 years old and my husband has a series 3 and it is fine.

Apple Watch 6 SE does not hold charge and is only 3-4 years old. I have unpaired it and restored from backup. Same . Tried unpairing and setting up as a new watch, same. Within 1 hour it drops to 80% from 100% charge.

On your watch open Settings, then Battery and check what your Battery Health is. If it is near or below 80%, the battery has hit its useful life limit.
