Having updated to iOS 16 on my 13 mini I logged into eBay and was guided to generate a passkey. Then I checked my passwords in settings. My passkey was there, where the password usually is it said WebAuthn, and at the bottom in red it said “delete passkey”.

The iPhone 13 is new to me I came from 7 and have only had it a few weeks, at one stage when I was having trouble resetting eBay passwords I decided to delete the passkey and restart the operation as a learning experience.

Now I do not have any prompts to generate a passkey, and the settings-password-eBay screen on my phone has reverted to showing the password and at bottom “delete password”.

Thank you for your reply, I did get onto eBay but could not talk to anyone about technical things, could only talk to password and security who surprisingly did not know what a passkey was.

I have spoken to Apple who tell me that the reverting to (password & delete password screen) after deleting the (WebAuthn & delete passkey screen). Is okay? And that Passkey will still be active.

But then this is all new and likely to have a few teething problems for Apple help staff.
