Apple Watch Series 3 stuck on preparing when updating OS & also pairing to a new iPhone 13

My Apple Watch is stuck on preparing after downloading the OS Update needed when pairing with a new iPhone 13. So I can’t update it on the Apple Watch because it’s stuck in reset pairing mode and my iPhone won’t go any further in pairing than the point where it says preparing to download the update after pairing and downloading the update. So I do not know what to do to fix this issue. Is there a way to fix this? Any help is much appreciated.
