2022 M2 Macbook Air-issues with cursor

Please help needed; I have searched and tried everything suggested here for my make and model, but nothing has worked.

2022 Macbook Air M2-

1) The cursor jumps randomly from place to place with the result that when I type, text ends up in a variety of places that I never intended.

2) When the tap to click function is selected, the cursor self-selects any link that it touches or even briefly hovers over unless I sideline it on the margin of the page. I would really like to use the tap to click function, so this is a real pita. 

3) Last, Notes no longer lets me place the cursor and select text.
