I've just bought airpods pro 2s but can't seem to find an option to mute the microphone from the buds without using the iPhone. If this isn't an implemented feature, please can it be implemented? Joining conference calls would be much more convenient when access to the iPhone is restricted.

While what you are describing is not a feature, you can see all available controls here: Pause, skip, and adjust volume with your AirPods and AirPods Pro.
