My 1st gen Apple Pencil won't write on my 6th gen iPad

My apple pencil gen 1 connects to my iPad gen 6, but will not write at all. I tried EVERTHING, INCLUDING erasing my iPad, and whenever i connect my pencil, it still wont write at all. its a brand new pencil. its completely charged, it connects but still will not write on any writing app, like GoodNotes, Notes etc. I am very frustrated at this point.

If the Pencilis new, you might be best advised to return to your retailer. If purchased directly from Apple, you have 14-days within which you can unconditionally return the item for exchange or refund.
