Apple Watch Ultra Altitude and Heading Way Off

My new Apple Watch Ultra originally showed my local altitude exactly right. However, after a flight several days ago, the compass is now off by 70° and the altitude is off by +2,200 feet. The local altitude is 1,380ft. I’ve reset the watch and no change. Anymore else seeing this? As a diver, it makes me question trusting it as a dive watch…

Did you restart your watch after the flight? If not, please try that now and see if that helps to resolve those incorrect readings: Restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support. Follow these steps:

"How to restart your Apple Watch if you have watchOS 9

  1. If your Apple Watch is charging, take it off the charger.
  2. Press and hold the side button until you see the power button  in the upper-right corner of the display.
  3. Tap the power button.
  4. Drag the Power Off slider.
  5. After your watch turns off, press and hold the side button again until you see the Apple logo."




 

"How to restart your Apple Watch if you have watchOS 8 or earlier

  1. If your Apple Watch is charging, take it off the charger.
  2. Press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider.
  3. Drag the Power Off slider.
  4. After your watch turns off, press and hold the side button again until you see the Apple logo."
