WhatsApp no longer working over 4G but works over 3G and Wi-Fi

WhatsApp has recently stopped working over 4G. It works perfectly over 3G and Wi-Fi.

I have deleted and reinstalled the app, restarted the iPhone, reset Network Connections etc. If I disable mobile data for WhatsApp it recognises this and prompts me to change my settings, so it can see a network when mobile data is enabled but just doesn’t connect. All other apps (except Twitter) work perfectly over 4G, 3G and Wi-Fi. Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max running iOS 16.0.2. Any ideas?

Prior to raising the issue on this forum I raised it with WhatsApp support, who replied ‘Unfortunately, this issue is out of the scope of support that WhatsApp can provide’. I also raised the issue with my service provider who checked the network and were unable to find any issues that could cause this problem, but thank you for stating the obvious. I only raised it on this forum to see if it was an issue others had experienced.

On further investigation tonight I managed to resolve the issue by toggling the VoLTE option under Mobile Data Options/Voice and Data. It was originally set to ON. When toggled to off the problem with both WhatsApp and Twitter was resolved. Returning the setting to On did not reintroduce the issue so that is the current state of VoLTE. I don’t know how a voice option would impact only Twitter and WhatsApp but the issue is now resolved after toggling this option so that is good enough for me.

If it was obvious then why not state it in your original post what you've done already, so I don't have to waste my time replying back.

Neither 4G or Whatsapp is an Apple product, you either contact your cellular data provider or Whatsapp support.
