Has anybody solved the go-slow in Adobe Reader with editing or even jusy searching in pdfs ?

Marking up pdfs in Adobe, or even just scrolling or searching through heavily annotated files, newish Macbook Pro gets slower and slower, almost stops, has actually crashed. Changing resolution doesn't help. Activity folder shows only 3/4 of capacity reached. Has anyone solved this problem?

I just upgraded a week ago from my old Macbook Air 2017 with Intel to a new Macbook Pro 13" 2022 with the Apple M2 chip, 16GB memory and 512GB storage. My Macbook Air was struggling to run Adobe Creative Cloud, and the Apple specialist told me this Macbook Pro would run Adobe very well. But I've just been trying to do some work in Adobe InDesign and it has crashed on me four times in the past couple of hours, and when trying to scroll or move something even just a millimetre it lags with the spinning wheel for about 30 seconds. The document is only 30MB and I only have Google Chrome and Microsoft Teams open, so it's not like I have a million other high performing programs open. Any idea what could be causing it to perform so poorly, despite being upgraded?

Idle apps using significant CPU time. Is this normal? (Includes Acrobat Reader and Final Cut Library Manager Was just checking CPU use on Activity Monitor and noticed Acrobat Reader is using like 25% CPU. It was idle. It had two documents open. FCLM came up high CPU briefly (one cycle in Act. Mon.) I'm not very surprised about FCLM, as it might be doing some background stuff, but Acrobat Reader with 2 docs open and doing nothing I could see? (Why do I use Acrobat? Because preview adds random horizontal lines to at least one document and the screen goes blank when I hold down the PgUp or PgDn key.) macOS 12.7 Acrobat Reader version in a screenshot. TIA!

Insane RAM usage by preview.app Hi all! I create this thread because I just figured out that when I open a pdf for my university lecture, preview.app just stops working. Btw, in the folder I have 10 pdf, some of them weighing about 40 MB, and preview opens them without any problem at all, all at once, but when I open the 5th of these 10 (which weighs 369 KB), preview.app crashes. Once it crashes a window pops up and says that I need to force quit the app because it is using an enormous amount of RAM (46.55 GB), while my MacBook Air M1 2020 has only 8 GB of ram. It's the first time that happened to me in the year and a half that I own this laptop, and I tried with all the other pdfs, and none of them gave me a single problem like the one in question.

I've never heard of or experienced the problem.
