Photo library on iCloud Drive

In an attempt to save disk space, I've relocated my photo library (>300Gb) to my iCloud Drive. This seems to work fine but: 1) is this the right way to do it? 2) It works fine on my iMac & iPhone, but I cannot see/access the file from my Macbook.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi stijnfromo,

No, that is not the supported method to use iCloud for accessing your photos and may cause issues accessing the photos and overall functionality of the Photos app.

The steps here are the correct way to enable iCloud Photos: Set up and use iCloud Photos - Apple Support

"On your Mac

  1. Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences.
  2. Click Apple ID.
  3. Click iCloud in the sidebar, then select Photos.

If you have an earlier version of macOS, go to System Preferences > iCloud. Click Options next to Photos, then select iCloud Photos."
