I am given to understand that unlike Android phones which are 5G ready, Apple needs to push a software update for the 5G enabled iPhones to access the 5G network in India.
When do we get that software update?

All iphones 12, 13, 14, SE2022 are 5G enabled for your country assuming you bought it in India and it is not a gray import
Any carrier update is pushed by the carrier and will show in Settings, General, About
Please read this article in which it is clearly mentioned that the handset manufacturer needs to push the software update.

Its Unfortunate Apple is still working on the 5G software update for India where all the ANDROID OS handset did their update the day 5G was launched in India .
You're welcome to that opinion . You also have to ask why India is so different from the rest of the world.
Or I would rather ask the question why are Android phones ahead of Apple when it comes to pushing a software update for 5G in India.
Is this the case in US people might have sued apple for the delay in update ( Claiming 5G enabled and once Launched they are still testing )
According to the latest reports, Apple will push the 5G software update in India in December 2022.
