Safari 16 "a problem repeatedly occurred.."

Yesterday, I updated to OS 12.6 and Safari 16.0. Now when I try to log into certain sites I get the message "a problem repeatedly occurred with..." and the name of the site. Doesn't happen with most sites, but have run into this problem with eBay and easy pass. When I click reload, get the same message about a problem.

Doesn't happen with most sites, but have run into this problem with eBay and ezypass. I've checked Extensions, don't have any. Cleared cache. Turned off Javascript. Not sure what to else to check.

I've been having this exact same problem with Safari. Tried all the remedies. In my case, Safari is only doing this on my Mac Pro (Late 2013), not my Mac Book Pro or my iMac. They're both fine. Firefox is having no such issue, just Safari. I have a direct Ethernet connection and 1Gig internet service. Also, Mail prompts me to enter my password for one of my mailboxes but the box to enter the information comes up blank with no way to enter anything. Both problems started after the most recent upgrades. I think there's a glitch in Java Script because, when I turn it off, YouTube loads just fine but, of course, won't play any videos. The problem reoccurs when I turn JavaScript back on. I even did a clean reinstall of Mac OS. Didn't help.

Wow, you're having more problems than I am. All I can say is after a couple of computer restarts, the problem seems to have gone away. Don't know what caused it, but will look into javascript if it happens again. Had no problem with Chrome.

After a previous update, Chrome became unusable, using so much CPU that the computer kept locking up. A couple of weeks later that problem mysteriously disappeared. Always some problem after updates, computer and phone.

Problems downloading files

  • Click the Show Downloads button  in the toolbar to see the status of items being downloaded.
  • If the download is paused, click the Resume button  next to the file in the list.
  • To reveal a downloaded file in the Finder , click the magnifying glass  to the right of its name in the downloads list.
