how to record voice message with Messages

No, I mean the Audio icon with the voice graft, the blue button.

Actually, now I have upgraded to the IOS 16 and the blue "audio" icon is now there, but when I try to use it to send a voice recorded message I get a message:

"Cannot send Audio Messages at this time".

I have done all the fixes and checks of settings recommended, including not having on sound recognition (which was never on). thanks for asking, hope you can help get it working. WhatsApp is not a problem at all, and neither is LINE

The icon you have shown in your screen shot which is below the text box and above the key board, I have exactly the same thing. The blue icon with the voice graph (don't know what else to call it) is there. Still I am getting the same message "cannot send audio message at this time" It does not offer me the recording screen .

I know how to dictate a text message. What I want to do is trouble shoot the audio message issue. And yes, I am using IMessages.

I use voice message on other apps and don't have any problem with them, so not sure why iMessage is not connecting
