When working in a playlist in the desktop application the banner is about half the page, making the space actual listing very small. Is there a way to turn off or minimize it so I can see more songs on my playlist?

That oversize banner has been the source of many complaints, but unfortunately it has a fixed size. If you have room to make the window taller it will take less than half the page, but otherwise there is no adjustment.
