Apple Files App Deletes Data

I have been using the markup tool in the Files app to take notes and do calculations. Today I was using it, and while I was in the middle of writing, the app froze for 1 second and restored my work to an earlier version from many hours ago. Unfortunately I lost 4-5 hours worth of hand-written work. How can I get my work back? This glitch has occurred twice today.

Hey there tina729,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We're happy to provide some assistance.

If there was not a backup made prior to this occurring, there would not be a way to restore this content. Take a look here on how to check for backups:

If this continues to occur, let's make sure your device is up-to-date. If it is updated, let's restart your device. Restarting your device and making sure it is updated can resolve many unexpected issues.
