Text scam

My friend had sent me a message saying “can you put your name in it and send it to 10 different people we’re trying to make the longest iMessage for the 2022 Guinness World Records. Put your name below (copy it) and send it to 10 people, Don’t be the one to break the chain!!” Idk if it was a scam because once I answered it they never responded and it was less then a minute after I sent it, idk if it was a virus or they actually wanted to do this
